Furzedown House is a characterful country manor house that has been tastefully converted into luxury apartments boasting a range of eye-catching period features.

Furzedown House is situated in one of the most enviable settings in the Test Valley, set back from a quiet country lane which leads south from the village of Kings Somborne to Braishfield. It lies approximately 360ft above sea level, one of the highest points of the Test Valley. On its south-western side is the Compton Estate and to the east, Hoplands and Parnholt Wood. The property is accessed via a private gravelled driveway which leads into a communal parking area offering parking for multiple vehicles.

A private front door opens into a spacious entrance hall which serves the accommodation, with ample space for hanging coats and jackets. On the right is a sizeable sitting room featuring a large period-style bay window flooding the room with natural light and an ornate stone mantle above the open fire provides a charming focal point.

The hall then leads to three double bedrooms with one hosting an en-suite, with ample built-in storage and a family bathroom. At the end of the hall is a generous open-plan kitchen/dining/living room with a modern fitted kitchen and dining area which is complemented by a woodburning stove beautifully set in an open stone fireplace.

On from the kitchen/dining/living room is a door leading into the loggia which offers the ideal space for utilities and works perfectly as a boot room as it includes a door opening out into the rear garden which is private and enclosed. The majority of the garden is mainly laid to lawn and includes a number of wonderfully maintained mature borders with sweeping views of fields and the surrounding countryside whilst featuring a patio area directly to the rear of the property, ideal for al fresco dining. There is a shed ideal for additional storage and included in the sale is a portion of land which could be utilised to build a garage, subject to planning.

Furzedown House is a large country house with extensive gardens and grounds and has a fascinating history. It was used as a USA AF rest home for combat air crews in the UK. Furzedown House joined the Program on the 26 June 1944 and it was set up to accommodate 25 officers and was allocated initially to the First Bomb Division. Subsequently a number of eminent people have owned the property including members of the Churchill family, Tommy Sopwith and the former MP Duncan Sandys. The house was then divided into a number of apartments including the wings, and it became privately owned again in 1981.
